Kingerlee response to the Coronavirus – update 6 July 2020

A further update for our valued customers and partners as to how we are dealing with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

All projects are open and continue to operate reasonably efficiently, closely following updated UK Government, Public Health England and Construction Leadership Council guidance. We review and update our guidance and site operating procedures immediately following the receipt of revised official guidance. The recent relaxation of government guidance from 2m to 1m (plus mitigation measures) for social distancing does not materially change our procedures. Our fantastic people, especially our site teams, continue to carry out an amazing job keeping everyone on our projects safe. We have continued to introduce new ways of working which operatives and supervisors within our supply chain are following well.

Material supply had improved in general but there are now some signs of difficulties with specific materials; we are using our supplier relationships and our Kidlington facility to ensure that we hold appropriate stocks of key materials.

Our Leadership Team continues meeting regularly to review and refine our strategy as necessary. It is our intention to continue to operate as efficiently as the situation allows.
Our joinery department also continues to operate busily, with revised procedures during this time.

We have detailed plans in place as to how each individual member of staff should now operate, be that remotely from home, on site, at our offices or at any essential meetings that are required. Collaborative digital platforms, such as Microsoft Teams, are being used extensively. We have changed our office working environment to reflect the challenges presented by Covid-19 with a full guidance document available on our website and issued to all of our people.

We are a 150-year-old family business, with a great team and a strong balance sheet. Being agile, creative and working strictly to governmental guidance in looking after our people and our supply chain will enable us to ensure that we come through this challenge even stronger.

Established in 1868, our family business has been providing high-quality building in and around Oxfordshire for five generations.
 
We are proud of our history, our founder Thomas Henry Kingerlee was a plumber living in Banbury. With one of his great, great-grandsons, David Kingerlee - Chairman, still involved in running the business today.
 
Supported by a loyal and competent supply chain, our experienced workforce of 100 people have the combined skills to undertake historical and modern building projects up to the value of £35 million. 
 
We pride ourselves on our non-adversarial approach and the high quality of our work. 
 
We remain committed as a business to the ongoing development of our people and of our technical knowledge and abilities.
