The New Hall building sits within the Winchester Warden’s Garden, adjacent to the original 14th-century College buildings and the water meadows.
The scheme involved refurbishing the Grade II listed building and adding three- and one-storey extensions. Heating is provided via a new biomass boiler with a district heating main to the school buildings.

Innovative construction methods, including Comdeck piled raft foundations and a Permavoid attenuation tank, were used to address the high water table. The exterior features red/brown brick with stone quoins and window surrounds beneath a zinc roof, while the Foyer Elevation is highlighted by a full-height glass curtain wall and acoustic ‘flutterfree’ timber soffit.

A key focus was the repair and preservation of 17th-century panelling from the nearby 14th-century Chapel. New auditorium seating and perforated acoustic ceiling sails are designed with minimalistic lines and colours to complement this historic feature.
