The extension to the existing Sobell House Hospice created six new bedrooms on the ground floor for the palliative care of patients suffering from dementia. In addition, there is a new lymphedema clinic (which seeks to provide outpatient services to cancer sufferers). The first floor created additional administration office space and staff welfare facilities.
A courtyard garden was retained and improved containing hard and soft landscaping and this benefitted from the enclosure and privacy provided by the new annex.
The construction comprises a steel frame with a beam and block ground floor slab, with hollow core concrete planks to the first floor and roof levels.
The façade consists of a white Sto insulated render to match the existing hospice with curtain walling and composite aluminium windows and doors.
