Private Farmhouse, Oxfordshire
The alterations and refurbishment of a traditional stone farmhouse and barn together with construction of a contemporary glazed and timber clad link. The feature roof to the link was an intricate and complicated design finished in traditional leadwork.
Timber window shutters, some electronically controlled and new windows were manufactured in Kingerlee’s own joinery works to match the existing period windows of the farmhouse. Other glazing on the scheme benefited from the inclusion of modern bespoke frameless systems.
A new heating system involving traditional style radiators and underfloor heating was installed using heat pumps connected to a geothermal ground source heat extraction system. The works included the upgrade of insulation and lighting to exceed present standards ensuring a warm and comfortable home for years to come. The floor to the lower levels was predominantly finished in carefully selected York stone, whilst upstairs Kingerlee installed proprietary bespoke Dinesen oak flooring.
Kingerlee Joinery were also extensively involved in the manufacture of bespoke wardrobes, dresser units and shelving maximising storage space throughout the house. The study was sublimely finished in oak panelling with integral bookshelves and secret doors. The individual nature of this building was highlighted by the use of ironmongery designed specifically and exclusively for this fine family home.
