OXCIS is a grand Islamic structure incorporating minorettes, domes, a lecture theatre, accommodation units and a large prayer hall amongst many other facilities.
Kingerlee managed the fit-out and completion of various areas of the building including the lecture theatre with associated balconies, gallery, foyer and entrance areas, the gatehouse and Director's accommodation, external perimeter stone walls and railings, and the central quadrangle finished in marble with lighting and a fountain.
Responsibilities within the role of Construction Manager included the interesting coordination of materials and labour donated by foreign governments to various sections of the building. The lecture theatre walls and ceilings, for example, are clad in hand-carved Malaysian dark timber.
