The building is generally a load-bearing masonry construction built off a piled foundation/ground beam arrangement with an in-situ reinforced concrete ground slab. Upper floors are a combination of in-situ and precast concrete with precast concrete stairs. Roof construction is a combination of roof trusses, ‘cut’ timber and steelwork with a zinc-coated aluminium roof covering.
External walls are brick/concrete block cavity wall constructions with some additional block acoustic skins. Windows, curtain walling and external doors are generally double-glazed powder-coated aluminium. Internal walls are concrete blocks. All internal door sets are timber-painted doors and hardwood frames with internal joinery generally hardwood.
The building was constructed to incorporate both individual practice/ teaching rooms, together with large performance rooms and a recording studio.
Externally the landscaping design incorporated a raised mound outside of the paved area, to be utilised for seating during exterior performances.
