The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is a striking Islamic complex featuring minarets, domes, a lecture theatre, accommodation units, a large prayer hall, Great Hall dining area, boardroom, and executive office suites, set around quadrangles, gardens, and terraces.
Kingerlee completed the fit-out to a high standard, using marble and granite walls and floors, decorative fibrous plasterwork, carved wood panelling, and bespoke Iznik tiles. The Great Hall is particularly impressive, with vaulted plaster ceilings, limestone walls with carved detailing, and a granite floor.
Materials and craftsmanship were sourced internationally, including panelling, screens, doors, and staircases from Oman; stone from Yemen and Portugal; and ironmongery, Iznik tiles, and calligraphy from Turkey.
All electrical, AV, IT, and mechanical systems incorporate the latest technology, ensuring the complex was both functional and architecturally distinguished.
