  • Museum refurbishment including ground floor and basement exhibition, social, and café spaces
  • Improved circulation and access
  • Sensitive restoration of historic fabric
  • Creation of a new café and upgraded education spaces with new joinery, lighting, and fittings
This project for Modern Art Oxford involved the refurbishment of the ground floor and basement exhibition halls, social area, and café.
The ground floor underwent significant refurbishment to improve access, flow, and interior finishes. The passage between the proposed Social Space and the Ground Floor Gallery was modified, and new wall linings were installed throughout. Two original arched openings were reinstated, and the Education Space was both extended and stripped of existing linings to expose original brickwork. New built-in and loosejoinery was added and a new lighting layout.

Basement upgrades included alterations to the existing kitchen and the construction of a new café. New vinyl flooring was installed, painted brickwork was exposed, and a new wall lining with a sliding pocket door was added to improve layout and functionality.
