Eling Farm Barns

This project involved the structural repair and re-roofing of 9 listed barns.

Works were undertaken while the farm remained in full operational use and was timed so as to have no effect on existing bat colonies or seasonal swallow nesting.

Scaffold was erected to all barns to enable the stripping and re-roofing of all elevations utilising as many salvaged tiles as possible and to facilitate the structural repairs.

One of the barns was in dangerous condition with a severe lean and had to be jacked and straightened before any repairs could be undertaken, Another of the barns required underpinning on one elevation.

All barns underwent varying degrees of structural repairs to trusses, beams & plates and most received a proportion of bespoke new doors and windows provided by Kingerlee Joinery. Timber treatment was also undertaken to all barns.

All products used on the project were as approved by Natural England.
